Fly Fishing

Nothing much to do with wine, but Fly Fishing is a grapecircus passion. #justsaying

Conterno Fantino

Lifelong friends Claudio Conterno and Guido Fantino have viticulture in their blood. Both come from winemaking families, and began helping in the vineyards almost as soon as they could walk. Their modern winery sits on the hillside above Monforte d’Alba, with beautiful, panoramic views of the Alps.

Barbera d'Alba 'Vignota'

Dark red cherry, plum, mint and spice tones are woven together on the very inviting nose. Dense and racy on the palate with hints of leather, sage, tobacco and cedar.

A blend of five vineyards in Monforte featuring different altitudes, exposure and vine age. The components are vinified separately and then blended after malolactic fermentation and aged in second-use barriques.

Barolo Castelletto 'Vigna Pressenda'

Expressive and intense, with plenty of classic Monforte muscle that is lifted by the vibrant aromatics, silky texture and pronounced floral quality.

A new entry from Conterno Fantino for the 2013 vintage. From the Pressenda vineyard, an east-facing plot within the Castelletto crù, the wine sees barrique for the first year and large casks for the second, followed by two years in bottle.

Barolo Ginestra 'Sorì Ginestra'

Silky, pliant and expressive, with plenty of weight and intensity on the palate. A host of lavender, smoke, mint, plum, spice and savory herb overtones add complexity on the finish.

Sorì Ginestra, along with Vigna del Gris, represents the top tier of wines from Conterno Fantino. Both of these wines see only barrique for their oak ageing.

Like all great estates, their attention to detail begins in the vineyard, translating into immense depth and expressiveness across the entire range of wines. One of the leading exponents of the modern school of Barolo, the top wines are aged in new barrique, adding textural complexity to the lush fruit profile. The flagship Sorì Ginestra, one of the most iconic Barolo vineyards, is the jewel in their crown.
