domaine paul ginglinger

Domaine Paul Ginglinger is a family-owned estate located in Eguisheim, a fairytale village just south of Colmar with a long winemaking history. The village is dominated by two grand cru vineyards, Eichberg and Pfersigberg.

Crémant d’Alsace ‘Prestige’

A pure and elegant crémant made primarily from pinot blanc. Aromas of lemon, gooseberry and hazelnut emerge from the glass, while on the palate, the low dosage (about 4g/l) preserves the delicacy of the fruit. A fine and persistent mousse and well-defined structure continue through the long, lifted finish.

Pinot Blanc

Fruity and supple aromas of white peach, mandarin and pear, the generous texture make this a versatile wine to pair with a variety of foods.

Like many wines labelled ‘pinot blanc’ from Alsace, a proportion of pinot auxerrois is included in the blend, which adds rich fruit notes to the citrussy aromas of pinot blanc. Michel Ginglinger blends from several different parcels to obtain a balance of maturity and freshness in the wine.

Refined aromas of grapefruit, orange peel, white peach and white flowers reveal themselves over a core of flint and granite. The signature precision of Michel Ginglinger is evident, and offers a counterpoint to the wine’s concentration and depth.

Pinot Noir Classique

Delicate red cherry and redcurrant notes offset by stony minerality. Nicely lifted, with a fresh, floral nuance to the well-delineated berry flavors. A firmly structured wine thanks to the clayey marls of the terroir, but with all the finesse you would expect from pinot noir.

Pinot Noir 'Les Rocailles'

Les Rocailles comes from a plot called Mittlerer Eich, within the Grand Cru Eichberg. Here the soils are a mixture of marls and sandstone, but they are thin, so the vines grow almost on the bedrock. This naturally restricts yields, and the vines produce small, concentrated berries.

After fermentation in open-top vats, the wine spends twelve months in used Burgundy barrels, with a small proportion of new oak also.

Deep and broad, this pinot noir expresses the powerful terroir of Eichberg and yet retains elegance and precision.

domaine paul ginglinger

Domaine Paul Ginglinger is a family-owned estate located in Eguisheim, a fairytale village just south of Colmar with a long winemaking history. The village is dominated by two grand cru vineyards, Eichberg and Pfersigberg.

Founded in 1610, it is now in the hands of Michel Ginglinger, who represents the 13th generation of the family. The domaine covers 12 ha of vineyards planted to pinot noir, pinot blanc, gewürztraminer, riesling, pinot gris, muscat and sylvaner. The average vine age is 30 years.

The production is certified organic. Michel uses no chemical pesticides or mineral fertilisers, preferring to allow the plants to find their own equilibrium. The result is concentrated, balanced wines with great purity and terroir character from village wines up to the Grands Crus.
