Castello Dei Rampolla

The legendary Castello dei Rampolla is a place with many souls. The holistic approach to farming is all about balance, respect of nature and her rhythms. Despite this deep connection with the Panzano terroir, Sangiovese here is not the main player, and Cabernet Sauvignon and other international grapes are on the front stage.

trebianco-di-santa-lucia

'TreBianco di Santa Lucia'

Trebianco can be defined as an “orange” wine. Those undaunted by the colour will discover a surprising, complex fruitiness. With no added sulphites. The Trebbiano, Chardonnay, Traminer, Sauvignon Blanc and Malvasia grapes are left to ferment, with their skins, for about 10 days in clayvers – a process, which allows all the sun’s energy to be released into the wine. Its full body makes it similar, in some ways, to a red wine.
A sunny day in a glass. It is perfect as an aperitif, or combine it with intense flavours such as roasted fish, foie gras or cheese.
The average production is 4000 bottles.

santalucia

'Sangiovese di Santa Lucia'

Sangiovese is a dry red table wine produced from 100% Sangiovese grapes. It’s entirely vinified in terracotta anphorae and without added sulphites. The harvest is done manually and after a careful selection of the best grapes that are crushed lightly. Fermentation occurs entirely in terracotta anphorae and lasts 7 days, while maceration lasts around four weeks. During the winter, sediment is allowed to fall to the bottom naturally, due to the cold. Once completed, the wine is decanted twice before being bottled. The wine is aged for 10 months in terracotta, then other six months in the bottle. The average production is 1500 – 5000 bottles.

The wine making is reflecting the farming philosophy, with a similar light-handed attitude: spontaneous fermentations in neutral vessels (lot of concrete and clay) and a non-invasive, judicious and elegant use of oak. This multifaceted approach is the brainchild of Luca Di Napoli Rampolla and his sister Maurizia, two free thinking spirits, and the result is a collection of elegant, juicy, robust and incredibly long-lived wines that defy any categorization.
