Brunello di Montalcino
Intense aromas of red cherry, licorice and tar. Deep dense and suave, with youthfully chewy tannins and a slightly herbal nuance to the dark plum and coffee flavors. This brooding, strapping Brunello will require patience.

Canalicchio di Sopra is one of Montalcino’s historic wineries. Founded in the early 1960s, their first wine was released in 1966, and the following year they were one of the 12 founding members of the Consorzio del Vino Brunello di Montalcino. It is this kind of quality-focussed, forward thinking that marks Canalicchio as one of the greats. That, and their location on the northern slope of the hill of Montalcino, where the wines balance power with finesse. Francesco Ripaccioli has emerged as one of the stand-out winemakers of Montalcino, crafting powerful, classic-leaning wines loaded with personality.
