classical quirky vino
Stefano's fresh, youthful syrah cuvée, bottled without any oak ageing. It's named after Stefano's Canadian importer (Julie), and colleague (Giulia). All the hallmarks of the Amerighi estate: pure, dense black fruits, warm spices and gorgeous, lifted acidity.

Big and bold but undeniably classic syrah: black cherry, plum and violets on the nose, with hints of pepper, leather and tar. The fruit has a lifted quality thanks to partial whole cluster fermentation (the rest of the fruit is crushed by foot). Bright and smooth in texture, with supple tannins. Stefano's love for syrah is evident in this cuvée.

A selection of grapes from the peak of the de Canonici vineyard, only produced in outstanding vintages.
Seamlessly elegant, with intense notes of tarry plum, mocha, black cherry and black pepper over subtle tobacco and mint notes. Super plush and dense in texture, but lifted by the fresh acidity and minerality. Unforgettable.

Produced in collaboration with Vin des Potes, a project begun by two French sommeliers to make wine with their favourite producers.
Although we know Stefano's first love is syrah, he also planted a small parcel of sangiovese (he is in Tuscany after all), and we love it just as much. Pure, sappy red cherry and pomegranate over warm leathery spices and herbaceous notes.

The Cortona DOC in the east of Tuscany is proving to be a real game-changer for syrah, with Amerighi at the forefront.
In 2002, after intensive research into the newly-created Cortona DOC, he identified the perfect location for his vines: two south-west facing hills of sandy silt and chalk. A self-confessed Rhône fanatic, he established his 8.5 hectares of vineyards with syrah cuttings from the Southern Rhône. Working biodynamically in the fields and traditionally in the cellar, including crushing grapes by foot, his wines have a perfumed elegance that belies their power.
