Roncús

Marco Perco is the soul of Roncús, a family-owned winery in Collio, in eastern Friuli. He works organically but prefers to describe his viticulture as ‘ruspante’, meaning rustic or free-range. In the cellar, Marco works according to the tradition of the area, giving the wines short maceration on the skins and extended lees ageing.

Friulano

With a short skin maceration and 18 months on fine lees, friulano’s elegant whispers of pear, orange peel and almond are turned up a notch and complemented by lush texture and savoury undertones. Just give us a plate of prosciutto and we’re in heaven!

Ribolla Gialla

Bursting with peach, apricot, red apple and preserved lemon flavours. A short maceration on the skins enhances the aromatics and 18 months on fine lees gives the wine an added textural dimension. Like so many others from Friuli, this is a brilliantly versatile wine that was made for food.

Merlot

The rocky hillside vineyards of Friuli, with their clay and sandstone soils, have proven to be a worthy home for merlot since it was introduced to the area in the late nineteenth century. The Julian Alps to the north provide shelter from cold northerly winds, but the area tends to have a lot of cloud cover as a result, making for lean, mineral-tinged wines. Roncús produce a textbook example of Friulian merlot: restrained and medium-weight, with well-defined plum, dark raspberry and savoury herb characteristics lifted by bright acidity and fine-grained tannin.

Roncús

Marco Perco is the soul of Roncús, a family-owned winery in Collio, in eastern Friuli. The domaine covers several parcels dotted across the hills and plains of the area, many surrounded by forest and meadow. He works organically but prefers to describe his viticulture as ‘ruspante’, meaning rustic or free-range. In the cellar, Marco works according to the tradition of the area, giving the wines short maceration on the skins and extended lees ageing. They are the perfect starting point for discovering the breadth of wines Friuli has to offer.
